Integrated wastewater treatment equipment combines the primary sedimentation tank, the first- and second-stage contact oxidation tanks, the secondary sedimentation tank, and the sludge storage tank into a single unit. Blower aeration is applied in the first- and second-stage contact oxidation tanks, effectively integrating the contact oxidation process with the activated sludge process. This design leverages the advantages of both methods while mitigating their respective drawbacks, thereby further enhancing the overall efficiency of wastewater treatment.
Integrated wastewater treatment equipment is suitable for treating and reusing domestic sewage, as well as similar small- and medium-scale industrial organic wastewater from slaughterhouses, seafood processing plants, food‑processing facilities, and other sources, in residential communities, villages, towns, office buildings, shopping malls, hotels, restaurants, sanatoriums, government agencies, schools, military units, hospitals, highways, railways, factories, mines, tourist attractions, and other settings. The effluent treated by this equipment meets the Grade 1B standard of the National Integrated Wastewater Discharge Standards.
The primary treatment method employed is the contact oxidation process, a biochemical treatment technology. The design of the integrated domestic wastewater treatment system is based on typical domestic wastewater quality parameters, as well as those of similar industrial organic wastewaters; the influent BOD is assumed to be 200 mg/L.
Main components: 1. Hydrolysis–acidification tank; 2. Contact oxidation tank; 3. Suspended solids settling tank; 4. Disinfection unit; 5. Aerobic sludge digestion tank.
1. Hydrolysis–Acidification Tank
This process primarily involves pre-treating wastewater prior to treatment, subjecting the effluent to a controlled anaerobic fermentation to enhance its biodegradability. This is a critical step in the pre‑treatment stage, directly influencing the efficiency and duration of subsequent treatment processes, while significantly improving treatment performance and reducing resource consumption.
2. Contact Oxidation Tank
Oxidation ponds are classified into several grades—standard and enhanced—depending on the degree of wastewater pollution. The choice generally hinges on the treatment duration: standard oxidation ponds are used for treatment times of four hours or less, while enhanced oxidation ponds are employed for durations between 4 and 6 hours. Typically, effluent from the hydrolysis–acidification pond flows by gravity into the contact oxidation pond for biochemical treatment. In this stage, most of the organic matter in the raw wastewater is degraded and purified. Aerobic microorganisms attach to the packing material, utilizing the organic compounds in the wastewater as nutrients to break them down into inorganic salts, thereby achieving purification. For aerobic bacteria to thrive, sufficient oxygen—i.e., adequate dissolved oxygen in the wastewater—is essential to ensure effective biochemical treatment. Air for the aerobic tank is supplied by blowers, and the tank is equipped with a new type of elastic three-dimensional packing material that offers a large surface area, long service life, easy biofilm formation, and excellent corrosion resistance. At the bottom of the tank, rotary‑mixing aerators are installed, which maximize the oxygen transfer rate while providing additional advantages such as light weight, resistance to aging, resistance to clogging, and extended service life. The gas–water ratio in the contact tank is approximately 12:1 (with a contact time of 0.5–5 m/h, corresponding to a two‑stage process).
3. Impurity Sedimentation Tank
After treatment in the biological contact oxidation tank, the effluent flows by gravity into the sedimentation tank, where it undergoes further settling to remove detached biofilm and some small organic and inorganic particles. The sedimentation tank operates on the principle of gravity: as wastewater containing suspended solids flows upward, gravity causes these solids to settle out. An adjustable effluent weir is installed at the top of the tank to regulate the effluent level, while a conical sludge‑settling zone and a sludge‑gas system are provided at the bottom; the gas supply is delivered by a blower, and the sludge is conveyed to the aerobic digestion tank via air‑lift technology.
4. Disinfection Procedures
According to the “TJ14-74” standard, the disinfection tank is designed for a retention time of 30 minutes; for hospital wastewater, the retention time is extended to 1–1.5 hours. Our company employs a chlorine dioxide disinfection system, and both the disinfection tank and the disinfection unit can dynamically adjust the dosage based on the flow rate, ensuring that higher flow rates correspond to higher dosages and lower flow rates to lower dosages. Additional equipment can be configured separately as needed. (For industrial wastewater, the disinfection tank and disinfection unit may be omitted.)
5. Aerobic Sludge Digestion Tank
The excess sludge discharged from the sedimentation tank undergoes aerobic digestion in the tank to stabilize it, thereby reducing its volume and enhancing its stability. After aerobic digestion, the sludge volume is significantly reduced; during maintenance, a vacuum truck can be inserted through the inspection port at the bottom of the sludge tank to pump out the sludge for external disposal (cleaning required once every six months). An effluent‑return system is installed at the top of the aerobic digestion tank to allow the supernatant to overflow into the hydrolysis–acidification tank.
