The Reverse Osmosis Device is a water purification system that uses a semipermeable membrane to desalinate saline water under pressure. Its operation is opposite to the natural osmosis process, hence the term “reverse osmosis,” also known as “inverse osmosis.” By applying a pressure greater than the osmotic pressure, this method can achieve separation, extraction, and purification. In water treatment, after preliminary processing, the feedwater, under high pressure, passes through the RO membrane into the freshwater side, while various dissolved salts are carried away with the pressurized effluent, effectively dividing the water into two streams and achieving the separation of salt from water.
Reverse osmosis systems are categorized into single-stage and dual-stage configurations. A single-stage RO system removes certain contaminants from water through a single pass of membrane filtration, whereas a dual-stage RO system builds on this by subjecting the permeate to an additional RO membrane stage, achieving a higher desalination efficiency. When the feedwater quality is comparable to that of tap water, dual-stage reverse osmosis can reduce the water’s electrical conductivity to below 5 µS/cm, and in some cases even to less than 2 µS/cm. It effectively removes more than 99% of dissolved salts, colloids, microorganisms, particulates, and organic compounds, making it a highly regarded choice for modern purified‑water and ultrapure‑water applications.

    Process Principle

The reverse osmosis membrane is the core component that enables reverse osmosis; it is an artificial semipermeable membrane engineered to mimic biological semipermeable membranes and endowed with specific characteristics. Such membranes are typically fabricated from polymeric materials, including cellulose acetate membranes and aromatic polyamide membranes. The diameter of their surface micropores generally ranges from 0.5 to 10 nm, and their permeability depends on the membrane’s intrinsic chemical structure. Some polymers exhibit strong rejection of salts but relatively poor water permeation, whereas others possess a chemical structure rich in hydrophilic groups, resulting in faster water flux. Consequently, an ideal reverse osmosis membrane should strike an appropriate balance between permeate flux and desalination efficiency.
The Reverse Osmosis Device is a purified water equipment that uses a semipermeable membrane to desalinate saline water under pressure. The reverse osmosis system first passes the raw water through fine filters, granular activated carbon filters, and compressed activated carbon filters, then pressurizes it with a pump. It employs a reverse osmosis membrane (RO membrane) with pore sizes of 1/10,000 μm—about 1/6,000 the size of an E. coli bacterium and 1/300 the size of a virus—to convert high-concentration water into low-concentration water, while effectively removing a wide range of impurities—including industrial pollutants, heavy metals, bacteria, and viruses—thus meeting the prescribed physicochemical and hygienic standards for drinking water. Our company’s reverse osmosis equipment can provide high-quality purified water to industries such as power generation, metallurgy, light industry, automotive, semiconductors, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food processing, and healthcare. This equipment features a compact design, superior quality, and competitive pricing, incorporating state-of-the-art reverse osmosis membranes, high-efficiency, low-noise high-pressure pumps, and precision instruments to form a self-contained reverse osmosis system. The entire system is controlled by an advanced PLC, which manages functions such as starting and stopping the high-pressure pump, automatic high- and low-pressure protection, and automatic rapid flushing.
The flow rate ranges from 0.5 m³/h to 150 m³/h, with other specifications available upon request. The reverse osmosis pressure vessel can be configured in stainless steel or fiberglass-reinforced plastic, and the reverse osmosis membrane is a polyamide composite membrane.

    Product Features

    • Under ambient conditions, a non‑phase‑change physical process is employed to desalinate and purify saline feedwater.
    • Currently, the rejection rate of a single reverse osmosis membrane element exceeds 99%. A first‑stage reverse osmosis system typically achieves a desalination rate of 97% or higher, while a two‑stage system generally maintains a desalination rate of 99% or more. These systems can also simultaneously remove colloids, organic matter, bacteria, viruses, and other contaminants from water.
    • Because reverse osmosis systems can effectively remove microorganisms, organic matter, and inorganic substances such as iron and silicon, the quality of the effluent is excellent.
    • Compared with ion-exchange-based water purification, this approach reduces costs associated with chemical reagents used for resin regeneration, labor expenses, and wastewater treatment resulting from the regeneration process, while also minimizing environmental pollution.
    • It mitigates fluctuations in product water quality caused by variations in raw water quality, thereby promoting stability in the production process and positively contributing to the consistent quality of demineralized water.
    • The recovery rate is high, reaching over 75%.
    • Using water pressure as the driving force, energy consumption is relatively low in many treatment processes.
    • It features a high degree of automation, automatically shuts down in the event of a fault, and includes automated protection functions.
    • It enables continuous water production, features a simple system, is easy to operate, and delivers consistently stable water quality.
    • The equipment occupies a small footprint, features a compact design, operates reliably, and delivers high-quality produced water.
