Demineralized Water Unit

Size:

The Demineralized Water Unit, as its name suggests, is a device that reduces water hardness by removing calcium and magnesium ions. It employs ion-exchange technology, using cation exchange to pass the raw water through a cation exchanger, thereby eliminating calcium, magnesium, and other ions from the water.

  • Product Overview

    Natural surface water and groundwater contain significant amounts of salts formed by calcium and magnesium ions. If used directly as feedwater, these salts can readily precipitate as scale on the heated surfaces of equipment, reducing efficiency, increasing energy losses, diminishing output, and shortening equipment life; in severe cases, this poses risks to both equipment integrity and personnel safety. Therefore, it is essential to soften the feedwater.

    The system comprises three components: the ion-exchange section, the salt-regeneration section, and the control section.

    Process Principle

    When raw water containing hardness ions passes through the resin bed in the exchanger, the calcium and magnesium ions in the water displace the sodium ions adsorbed by the resin. The resin retains the calcium and magnesium ions, while sodium ions are released into the water, thereby producing softened water. Once the resin has absorbed a certain amount of calcium and magnesium ions, it must be regenerated. During regeneration, brine from the salt tank is used to flush the resin bed, displacing the hardness ions from the resin and carrying them away with the regeneration waste stream, thus restoring the resin’s softening and ion-exchange capacity.

    Application areas

    In the process of demineralization, the Demineralized Water Unit cannot reduce the total salt content in the water; it is primarily used for industrial or domestic hardness removal and water softening.

    ① Suitable for pre-treatment of direct drinking water in communities, schools, factories, and other institutions;

    ② Can be used for the pretreatment of bottled water, mineral water, and other types of packaged water;

    ③ Process water for the light textile and chemical industries, including chemical circulating water and purified water used in the manufacture of chemical products;

    ④ Water used in the food and beverage industry, including purified drinking water, beverages, beer, baijiu, health supplements, and other applications;

    ⑤ Water used in the electronics industry for rinsing electronic components such as integrated circuits, silicon wafers, and display tubes.

    Model Description

    1. Product series; 2. Softening; 3. Tank diameter

    Product Features

    • Highly automated, the water softener can automatically regenerate on a timed schedule and at a set flow rate.
    • Reliable performance, continuous operation, and stable effluent water quality.
    • A fiberglass-reinforced resin exchange tank, equipped with a lead-free brass or PPO control valve body and a PE salt tank.
    • A resin exchange tank made of carbon steel with a rubber lining, equipped with a diaphragm‑type or PVC‑material control valve assembly, and a salt tank or brine well constructed from polyethylene.
    • Low operating costs: Water consumption is less than 5–10% of the produced water volume (subject to the raw water hardness); regenerating 1 liter of resin requires approximately 100–160 grams of salt.
    • Flexible configuration allows you to select dual‑tank or multi‑tank systems, as well as time‑based or flow‑based control modes, and operating strategies such as simultaneous regeneration or alternating regeneration.
    • The entire system is rationally designed, meticulously configured, and delivers high softening efficiency.
