Wastewater discharged during the laundry industry’s production process contains a large number of pollutants. Laundry wastewater primarily comprises washing wastewater, rinsing wastewater, and spin‑drying wastewater. Each type exhibits distinct characteristics: washing wastewater contains surfactants, sodium tripolyphosphate, carboxymethyl cellulose, oil‑based contaminants, particulate matter, and various microorganisms; it appears turbid, has a pH of 6.5–7.5, and features a high suspended solids content. Phosphate discharge into water bodies can lead to eutrophication, while surfactants, once introduced, may cause toxicity and mortality in aquatic organisms and increase the solubility of certain micropollutants. Rinsing wastewater is voluminous, produces slight foam, contains fewer suspended solids and lower COD levels, and is relatively clear. Spin‑drying wastewater is minimal in volume, with water quality slightly better than that of rinsing wastewater.

In response to the characteristics of the wastewater quality, our company employs the conventional “coagulation–sedimentation plus biochemical treatment” process. This treatment technology is relatively simple, easy to operate and maintain, incurs low operating costs, and delivers stable effluent quality; the primary equipment is constructed from carbon steel.
After passing through a screen to remove large suspended particles, the raw water flows into an equalization basin, which primarily balances the water quality and flow rate. It then proceeds to a flocculation tank, where chemicals are dosed to remove a portion of LAS, COD, suspended solids, and color. Finally, the effluent enters an A2O wastewater treatment system for nitrogen removal and phosphorus elimination, achieving Class I discharge standards.
