Aquaculture wastewater treatment equipment
In recent years, intensive and large-scale livestock and poultry farming has rapidly expanded, generating substantial quantities of manure and wastewater. However, the vast majority of farms still lack adequate treatment and utilization systems for these wastes, leading to increasingly severe environmental pollution. Many pig farms are plagued by pervasive odors and swarms of mosquitoes and flies, while nitrate levels in groundwater have far exceeded permissible limits. In some regions, infectious and parasitic diseases are widespread. The pollution caused by wastewater from large-scale animal husbandry has reached a point where remediation is urgently needed.
Following the completion of the wastewater treatment plant, the pollution generated by the effluent will be effectively controlled through treatment and fully utilized, ensuring no new environmental impacts on the site or its surrounding areas. Both the project’s wastewater and solid waste will be subject to effective control and remediation. Moreover, the treated wastewater will be used for irrigation of the aquaculture zone’s forested areas and adjacent farmland, thereby promoting resource recycling, fostering a circular economy, and achieving zero discharge.
Treatment process
This scheme employs an integrated treatment approach that combines enhanced pretreatment, UASB, and A/O biological denitrification processes. The simplified process flow is shown in the figure below.

After passing through coarse and fine screens to remove large suspended solids, the aquaculture wastewater flows into a sedimentation tank, where most particulate matter is removed. It then proceeds to an equalization basin, where water quality and flow rate are stabilized and water temperature is adjusted. From there, it is pumped into an UASB anaerobic reactor, which not only degrades a portion of the refractory organic compounds but also enhances the biodegradability of the effluent, making it suitable as a carbon source for denitrification. Small‑molecule organics are converted by microorganisms into biogas and carbon dioxide. The effluent then enters an A/O reactor for nitrogen removal: on the one hand, it reduces COD; on the other, it oxidizes ammonium nitrogen to nitrate and nitrite. In the anoxic zone, denitrification occurs, ultimately converting ammonia in the wastewater into molecular nitrogen, which is released into the atmosphere. The clarified supernatant is discharged after meeting regulatory standards. The excess sludge is concentrated and dewatered in a sludge thickening and drying unit and subsequently treated as organic fertilizer.
Equipment Advantages
Our company’s aquaculture wastewater treatment equipment is developed based on years of experience in wastewater treatment project design, construction, and general contracting. From the client’s perspective, it seeks to minimize both capital investment and operating costs while ensuring compliance with discharge standards, and to simplify operation and management.
1 ) Advanced technology and stable, reliable operation
In the biochemical treatment stage of the design process, an anaerobic process is employed plus… A/O The system is a highly efficient, stable, and reliable wastewater treatment process that has been refined and optimized through years of practical application by our company. It ensures the effective removal of pollutants across multiple parameters, thereby guaranteeing consistent effluent quality that consistently meets regulatory standards.
2 ) High processing capacity and small footprint
Due to the high organic matter content and significant short-term fluctuations in the effluent of aquaculture wastewater, the project employs an anaerobic process followed by… A/O The process is space‑efficient, delivers stable treatment performance, exhibits strong resistance to shock loads, and is easy to operate and adjust.
3) Adopt new technologies and materials to reduce operating costs.
Energy consumption is the primary cost in aerobic processes; the project employs an oxygen utilization rate that can reach as high as 30% Its microporous aerator achieves an oxygen utilization rate far superior to that of other aeration devices, thereby reducing the system’s operating costs.
4 ) High degree of automation, convenient operation and management.
The wastewater treatment plant control system employs PLC The control system enables the water pump to automatically start and stop based on the liquid level, while standby equipment such as blowers and pumps switch over to operation automatically. With a high degree of automation, the system supports unattended operation and offers highly convenient operation and management.
