9. Short-term excessively high or low flue gas temperatures, or filter bag combustion—cause analysis: (1) High flue gas temperature may result from the boiler’s actual evaporation exceeding its rated capacity, improper combustion adjustments, or ash and slag deposition on the heating surfaces. (2) Low flue gas temperature may be due to air leakage in the boiler’s rear section, as well as factors such as inadequate combustion control or modifications to the heating surfaces, all of which can lead to abnormally low exhaust gas temperatures. (3) Combustible particulate matter may be present.
9. Short-term excessively high or low flue gas temperatures, or filter bag combustion.
Cause Analysis:
(1) High flue gas temperature is caused by the boiler’s actual evaporation rate exceeding its rated evaporation rate, improper combustion adjustments, or ash and slag deposition on the heating surfaces.
(2) The low flue gas temperature may be attributable to air leakage at the boiler’s rear end, as well as factors such as combustion adjustments and modifications to the heating surfaces, all of which contribute to an abnormally low exhaust gas temperature.
(3) Combustible particulate matter may be present.
Handling method:
(1) An offline protection system is employed: when flue gas temperature exceeds the set limit or re‑ignition occurs at the boiler’s tail end, the spray‑cooling system is activated to provide emergency water‑spray cooling, thereby preventing damage to the filter bags; meanwhile, the boiler operator is notified to adjust combustion.
(2) Introduce flue gas into the bypass duct of the air preheater; reduce the frequency of sootblowing at the furnace tail; put the upper pulverizing system into operation; under low-load conditions, open the hot-air recirculation damper of the primary air fan to raise the inlet temperature of the cold air; during normal operation, activate the hot-air recirculation of the induced-draft fan on the low‑flue‑gas‑temperature side, striving to increase the load during off‑peak periods. If the load remains low, further improvements will be required on the boiler itself.
10. Dust accumulation on the ceiling panel
Cause Analysis:
Bag rupture, poor sealing between the bag‑to‑short‑pipe connection and the ceiling plate, and other factors can all lead to varying degrees of ash accumulation on the ceiling plate.
Handling method:
Inspect and maintain the filter bags, and ensure a tight seal between the bag‑to‑tube connections and the baghouse ceiling.
11. Bag breakage occurs frequently.
Cause Analysis:
(1) When the spacing between filter bags is too narrow, not only do the bags and the bag-to‑wall panel interfaces collide and wear, but the upward airflow velocity within the housing is also impaired, leading to excessively high local filtration loads on the bags and insufficient cleaning intensity, resulting in frequent cleaning cycles.
(2) Highly sensitive to temperature, filter media will suffer damage if flue gas temperatures exceed the permissible limit, leading to a loss of mechanical strength. Moreover, under high-temperature conditions, the filter media is susceptible to oxygen; when the oxygen content in the flue gas surpasses the critical threshold, prolonged exposure can result in thermal oxidative degradation and subsequent failure of the filter media.
(3) High-pressure air blowing will cause severe localized damage to the filter media, significantly shortening its service life.
(4) Uneven airflow distribution.
Handling method:
(1) Adjust the spacing between filter bags; based on experience, the edge-to-edge distance should be at least equal to half the radius of the filter bag itself.
(2) Use filter media that are both high-temperature resistant and highly durable. During normal boiler operation, the oxygen content of the flue gas typically remains below the critical threshold for the filter media; therefore, in the design phase, the flue gas downstream of the baghouse should be used as the gas source to prevent the intake of large volumes of fresh air.
(3) The blowing air pressure shall not exceed 0.20 MPa and, while ensuring effective cleaning, should be kept as low as possible.
(4) Identify the root cause and implement corrective measures.
In practical operation, standardized and meticulous ash removal, routine maintenance, and timely troubleshooting based on experience can prevent minor issues from escalating into major failures that disrupt production, while also reducing maintenance costs. Continuously enhancing operational skills, maintaining vigilant observation, and conducting thorough analysis to eliminate potential hazards will ensure the baghouse dust collector operates smoothly and reliably, thereby effectively controlling dust pollution, meeting production requirements, improving efficiency, and lowering costs.
